Problems with stitching the hood onto the head

Anonymous   |   Wed, 2011-11-16 14:03

I like your book and I love the grim reaper which was the reason for buying your book ;). He is so cute :*.
Now I tried the grim reaper and all crochet parts worked well and I didn't even needed this tutorial ;). They are a bit misshapen but practice will help here.
My next step is stitching the hood onto the head but I don't know how. The problem is on the back. How do I do it? Especially without bulging (I hope thats the right word for it...)?

Thanks,
Ahotep

Yes, the Reaper's hood can

Yes, the Reaper's hood can be a little tricky to stitch into place. Here's what I do:

After I've stitched the head onto the body, I place the hood more or less where I want it to go (no stitching yet). I take two straight pins and pin the lower left and right corners of the hood where I want them to go on the neck. At this point, the bottom of the hood sticks out a little from the neck-- you'll need to push it in a little to get it to fit. I start tacking the bottom edge of the hood onto the neck, working from left to right, gradually gathering the hood a little bit at a time as I go.
