Still having trouble getting the Basic Head to come out just right? Well, I've posted a video showing it being made from start to finish.
Check it out here:

hi there! i bought your book! love the creepy cute!
i'm curious, if you don't mine me asking, why the head is worked in rounds and the body is worked in spirals? i'm pretty new still (started crocheting at the beginning of the year), and am curious why the two different techniques.
thanks!

Hi, and thanks!
I like to work in spiral when possible, because it doesn't leave the faint diagonal seam that working in rounds produces, and it seems that many other crocheters are more comfortable with spirals rather than rounds. However, working in a spiral also means that your rounds are not perfectly horizontal, and sometimes this is less than desirable, especially when working with a small number of stitches (the slight slant that shows up when working in spirals is more pronounced when you have a smaller number of stitches in each row)
basic head & cyber zombie
Okay! I'm convinced it totally makes a difference to the shape if you try spiraling :)
Since the cyber zombie is hairless I wanted to give it another try. (I seem to come up with what looks like an extra stitch before slip stitch join?)
Now I'm working on the base for the zombie and wondering if I'm doing the "wrong" back loop! (NO...the other back loop!) Once I matched up wrong sides together the "back loop" of the body is closest - feels like it's the front loop now that the work is turned around?
Am I the only one who managed to screw this part up? lol
Spirals and Cyber Zombies
Yep, switching to spirals instead of rounds in the Basic Head *will* slightly change the shape. Not massively, but enough to be noticeable if you're particular about such things.
Also, I just posted a video showing how I attach the base for the Cyber Zombie. You can see it here:
